Conditions of Participation GMJO Auditions 2026:

• European citizenship
• Born between 1 January 2000 and 1 October 2008
• Advanced level of education

In case of an excessive number of registrations, the GMJO reserves the right to limit the number of participants.
There is no right to participate. The legal process is excluded.

Audition Process

Application

Selection of the Audition City:

The choice of the audition city is completely free. In all audition cities, audition slots are offered for all instrumental groups.

Exceptions:
a) Percussion (see separate auditions in Amsterdam, Berlin, Vienna, Zurich)
b) Piano/Celesta: Interested musicians with orchestral experience are asked to contact the GMJO office via e-mail by 25 November 2026 (contact: auditions@gmjo.at).

Audition with an additional instrument:

If the audition is to be completed with an additional instrument (e.g. piccolo, bass clarinet, cor anglais), this option needs to be selected when registering, so that more time can be scheduled for the audition. If the additional instrument is not properly registered, the audition on the additional instrument can unfortunately not be accepted.

Reconfirmation / Slot Allocation

Registration for the auditions does not automatically guarantee an audition slot. After the application deadline, all applicants will be asked to reconfirm their participation via their personal audition account and indicate their availability for the offered audition slots. The final audition slot will be confirmed shortly afterwards.

Audition

All auditions will be recorded by a staff-member of the GMJO. All participants agree to this with their registration to the audition.

Audition Repertoire:

• 1st movement of one of the listed concertos (without cadenza)
• specified orchestral excerpts

The list of possible concertos as well as the scores of the orchestral excerpts can be downloaded after submitting the application. In advance, they can be reviewed here.

Piano Accompaniment:

Candidates who wish to take the audition with piano accompaniment may bring their own pianist to the audition – this however is not obligatory and will not affect the result. A piano is available at each audition location.

Audition Cancellation:

Cancellations must be communicated to the GMJO immediately so that the audition slot can be passed on to other applicants. Cancellation of the audition can be made via the personal audition account or by e-mail (contact: auditions@gmjo.at).
Unexcused absence will automatically result in exclusion from the next year’s auditions.

Result

All applicants will be informed in writing of the outcome of their audition in February 2027.

The result represents the final decision of the jury. Legal recourse is excluded.
